KIIT University Celebrates World Space Week
World Space Week-2017 is being celebrated by Satish Dhawan Space Centre, SHAR, ISRO in association with KIIT University on 6th and 7thOctober,2017 at KIIT Campus. Gracing the occasion as the Chief Guest, His Excellency Hon'ble Governor of Odisha Dr. S.C. Jamir inaugurated the ceremony today in the Auditorium, KIIT Campus-6.
Expressing his pleasure on inaugurating ISRO Space Week Celebrations, the Governor said that Satish Dhawan Space Center(SDSC) is a tribute to the late distinguished scientists who have left priceless contribution for the noble cause of our country. He affirmed "I am sure that Celebrations of World Space Week by SDSC would be quite inspiring and ignite the minds of the young students for exploring more in the arena of Space Science".
Dr. Jamir said, "we should really feel very proud of the scientists and technocrats for making India a self-reliant in Space Power". Over the years Indian Space Programme has seen many monumental success. Our Scientists have been playing a big role in Digital India. In this context, the Governor urged the scientists to carry on their good works and try to their level best to excel in Space Science in order meet the aspiration of the nation.
Addressing the gathering Dr. P Kuhnikrishnan, Director, Satish Dhawan Space Centre, ISRO laid focus on the milestones and landmarks achieved by SDSC over the years. He urged the students to make use of the situations and carry on their research in Space Science. He remarked that, India is one of the major countries of the world capable of making any kind of satellite.
At the outset, introducing the distinguished Guests, Prof. Achyuta Samanta, Founder, KIIT and KISS bestowed profuse praise on the Hon'ble Governor of Odisha Dr. S.C.Jamir and hailed him as the "Peoples Governor". Dr. Samanta articulated his indebtedness to ISRO for picking KIIT as the venue for celebration of this coveted event. He said India is in the league of the few nations of the world to send space craft to Planet Mars.
Shri Ajit Kumar Nath, Deputy General Manager, Range Operations, Satish Dhawan Space Centre, ISRO offered Vote of Thanks. Among others, Vice-Chancellor of KIIT University Prof. Hrushikesh Mohanty graced and spoke on the occasion. Many dignitaries from ISRO and KIIT Group of Institutions also graced the inaugural function. On this occasion, an exhibition of ISRO Launch Vehicle, Satellite Models and Display Portal was organized by the students of KiiT International School.
